#PassportToMP: A Journey Through Germany, from Christmas Markets to Alpine Adventures

During the 2023 Holiday season, I decided to complete my Work-Away in Europe, Visiting my best friend in Germany and going on adventures from skiing in Switzerland to driving a Porsche 911 on the alpine mountains.

After the passing of my father during the summer, I planned a much-needed break from my routine, during that time my best friend Suleman came to Canada to support my family. I wanted to return the favour and show my gratitude by booking a surprise ticket to visit him and his new life in Ulm, Germany.

Since Christmas is one of my favourite holidays, I couldn’t have picked a better place to embrace the winter season.

Exploring Germany

Stuttgart

My German escapade began with a touchdown in Stuttgart, where I was greeted with the iconic Christmas markets and indulged in traditional treats like Gluwein and Rindewurst. Little did I know, the Autobahn had a surprise in store for me within hours of my arrival – a speeding ticket, but it was worth breaking my all-time speed record.

Ulm

Ulm became my home base, offering a blend of work and leisure. Every moment was filled with joy, from attending a thrilling basketball game to exhilarating Go-karting sessions and cooking dinner with my friends. Being a 2-minute walk from a lively Christmas market added a festive touch to my stay, while spa days and a luxury gym provided much-needed self-love.

Switzerland

A short journey took me to Switzerland, where I explored the snowy alpine mountains of Laax. Skiing adventures, picturesque views, and Redbull-hosted ski parties made this leg of the trip truly unforgettable.

Munich

The highlight of my German expedition was picking up a Porsche 911 in Munich, a dream come true for any car enthusiast. Exploring the city's Christmas markets and embarking on a thrilling mountain road trip gave us the adrenaline we were looking for.

Tegernsee

Navigating twisty mountain roads around Tegernsee, near the Austrian border, was an exhilarating experience that allowed me to appreciate the beauty of German Auto Engineering and the gorgeous countryside. It was a dream come true to make life-long memories and experience one of the most iconic sports cars and mountain roads with my best friend who shares an equal love for motorsport and the German landscape.

Vienna

In Vienna, a city steeped in history and culture, I discovered new landmarks, indulged in exquisite coffee, and immersed myself in the rich tapestry of Austrian heritage before heading home just in time for Christmas.

Heading Home

Thanks to the Work-Away benefit my journey through Germany, Switzerland, and Austria was more than just a vacation – it was a tribute to cherished memories, shared dreams, and the spirit of adventure. From Christmas markets to mountain escapades, each destination left an indelible mark on my heart.

Bitte,
