From the moment we arrived in Mont Tremblant, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and quaint alpine villages, I knew the trip would be memorable. As we settled into our cozy chalet, excitement bubbled among our group. We weren’t just here to ski and indulge in BeaverTails but also to work together in a new environment, away from the familiar confines of our home offices.
Media Profile's Work Away Benefit allows each employee to travel anywhere in the world for up to a month and covers $3,000 worth of expenses to do so. On the heels of getting married and a full year of planning, I wanted to do something low-key that involved rest, relaxation and getting away from the city.
I considered doing a solo trip to cottage country but quickly changed course after discussing my plans with colleagues. As it turned out, a lot of people were feeling in a rut and had the same desire as I did: a need to "get away" after a busy year. So, we planned a mini Work Away road trip – two weeks in a beautiful chalet in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, just a short drive to the village and the slopes.
In total, five MPers joined the Work Away trip. With laptops perched atop wooden tables and views of a nearly frozen river and snow-covered trees stretching out before us, we tackled projects with a newfound sense of collaboration and creativity.
Being in a different environment seemed to unlock fresh perspectives and ideas, fostering innovation and problem-solving in ways that wouldn't have been possible within the confines of our regular workspace. We bounced ideas off each other with ease, drawing inspiration from our surroundings and each other's expertise.
But it wasn't just the change of scenery that made our work trip so productive; it was also the camaraderie that flourished outside of office hours. Evenings were spent gathered around the fire, sharing stories and laughter as we cozied up under blankets and sipped Moscow Mules. Weekends consisted of challenging ourselves on the slopes, as some of us, myself included, had not been skiing in over a decade.
As I look back on our time in Mont Tremblant, I'm struck by the undeniable benefits of stepping outside our usual routine and embracing new experiences. Not only did we return to the office feeling recharged and inspired, but we also gained a deeper appreciation for the power of collaboration and friendship among colleagues. It was exactly what we needed, and we left Quebec with a deep sense of gratitude that we work for a company like Media Profile, which values its employee's overall well-being beyond the day-to-day work.
